Dorothea "Mickey" Gear on December 15, 2024 of Ship Bottom, NJ. Age 97. Mickey is survived by her three daughters, Donna Schwartz (Andrew), Dawn Hedrich, and Melanie Scarcella (William), cousin Suzanne Hartman, granddaughter Kathleen (Drew), and three great-grandchildren (Corinne, Evan, and Aria). Predeceased by husband James Moretti, son-in-law Joseph Hedrich, and grandson Michael Hedrich.
Mickey was born in Ridley Park, PA on September 26, 1927. She lived most of her life in Delaware County, PA before relocating to Ship Bottom, NJ in 1998. During her career, she worked at Bell Telephone, Weinberg's Department Store, and Scott Paper Company before retiring and spending time volunteering at Serendipity Thrift Shop at Crozer-Chester Medical Center. Mickey was also previously an active member of the Saint Mary Magdalene Senior Club and the Ladies Auxiliary VFW Post 1521 in Chester, PA. She was most recently a member of St. Francis of Assisi Parish on Long Beach Island, NJ before moving in with her daughter, Dawn in Deptford, NJ in 2021.
Mickey enjoyed playing card games, especially pinochle, visiting the casino, watching game shows, and doing word searches. She also enjoyed sitting on the porch down the shore watching the activity on 15th Street.
Relatives and friends are invited to a viewing on Thursday, December 19, 2024 from 9:30am to 10:30am at Our Lady of Peace Roman Catholic Church located at 208 Milmont Avenue in Milmont Park, PA. Funeral Mass at 10:30am. Interment Lawn Croft Cemetery, Linwood, PA.
