1927-2018
Donald S. Lovett, 91, of Essington, died August 1, 2018 at Crozer Keystone Hospice at Taylor. Born April 6, 1927 in Morgantown, WV, he was the son of the late Lane P. and Thelma F. Snyder Lovett and resided in Monongahela, PA before moving to his late residence in 1972.
Donald was a graduate of Monongahela High School, class of 1945 and the University of Pittsburgh, class of 1956 with a BS in Mechanical Engineering. He served in the US Navy during WWII and was employed in the aircraft industry as a Turbine Engineer with Dallas Airmotive, Inc. in Millville, NJ for 14 years before retiring in 1999. Donald initially worked as a Machinist for Lee Norse Co. in Charleroi, PA. Thereafter, he was an Engineer for Westinghouse Power Generation (Gas Turbine) Division in Philadelphia for many years. Donald attended the First Presbyterian Church of Finleyville and the Ridley Park Presbyterian Church. He was a Registered Professional Engineer with The Professional Society of Engineers, Delaware County Chapter, and a member of the University of Pittsburgh Alumni Association.
Donald was predeceased by his son, Donald L. Lovett and his brother, John B. Lovett.
He is survived by his longtime companion, Elinor E. Battinieri; his brother, Lane P. Lovett; his sister, Joann McMillen; his granddaughter, Karen Lovett; his great grandchildren, Christine Lovett and Ashton Lovett; his great great grandchildren, Gracie Lovett and Bailey Lovett; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral Service: 8:00 PM Monday, August 6th at the White-Luttrell Funeral Home, 311 N. Swarthmore Ave., Ridley Park, PA 19078, where friends may call from 7:00-9:00 PM
