Dennis N. Hook, 78, of Upper Chichester died on May 30, 2026. Born in Chester, the son of the late Nicholas and Frances McDowell Hook, he lived in New Castle, DE before moving to Upper Chichester in 1977.
Dennis graduated with the last class at Eddystone High School in 1966 and was a proud veteran of the US Navy having served during the Vietnam War. He enjoyed a 30-year long career as a machinist at General Motors before retiring in 2008 and had previously worked at Qyx, Baldwin-Lima-Hamilton Locomotive and the Franklin Mint. Dennis was a member of St. John Fisher R.C. Church, American Legion Post 951 in Ogden and the Brotherhood of the Jungle Cock.
He had been active at the Chichester Baseball League and with the Chichester Crusaders when his son and daughter were participating in sports. He also enjoyed time at Treasure Beach and camping with this family. Enjoyment around the campfire along with family and a few beers and whatever your choice of beverage were always fond memories, including family gatherings and holidays, especially Father’s Day. Hurricane Charlie once punctured the roof and ceiling of the trailer and Big Den, as some knew him, did everything he could to keep his family protected and safe. He did this throughout his life, and his memory will forever be cherished by those who knew him. May his soul live on his family and friends.
Dennis is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Anna Wendeler Hook, his children Kristine Toscano (Mark) and Kevin N. Hook, his grandchildren Jackson and Samuel Toscano and Emmet and Everly Hook, and his sister Denise Burgess (late Norman).
