David Howard Shaner

David Howard Shaner, age 61, passed away unexpectedly on Monday August 31, 2026. Originally from Ridley Park, David had been a resident of the Don Guanella Community Home at Our Lady of Charity in Brookhaven since 2016. David was pre-deceased by his parents, William C Shaner Jr and M. Louise Shaner, and is survived by four siblings as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

David was a Christian and regularly attended church while living with his parents and continued to attend services at OLC. He especially enjoyed worship accompanied by organ music.

A graduate of Ridley School District’s Special Education program, Dave enjoyed bowling, swimming, reading, comedy, horror movies, Phillies baseball, and any meal involving spaghetti or ketchup!

Along with two of his brothers, Dave volunteered as a firefighter with Ridley Park Fire Dept.

Always approaching life with a forgiving and compassionate heart, Dave’s infectious smile and liberally-dispensed hugs warmed and enriched everyone whose life he touched.
