Obituary

David R. Haines, 81, died February 14, 2012 at Delaware County Memorial Hospital.

Born in Upper Darby, Mr. Haines was a lifelong resident of Lansdowne. He was a graduate of Penn Wood High School and Pierce Business College and was employed as an accountant at the Grand Masonic Lodge for 17 years, retiring in 1995, and previously worked for the John Middleton Tobacco Company.

David was a member of St. John's Episcopal Church in Lansdowne as well as the Lansdowne Lodge #711 F. & A.M. and the Lansdowne Swim Club. He was and avid Phillies fan, enjoyed quiz and trivia games and occasional junkets to Atlantic City. David had a gentle sense of humor and a keen memory that made him "good company." Words that would sum up David's life would be "Dear Anne, we have been apart too long."

He was the loving husband of the late Anne U. Connally Haines who died on August 26, 1996 after ten years of marriage, son of the late Edgar C. and Mildred Godwin Haines and brother-in-law of the late Thomas and Winnifred Connally.

Survivors: brother of Richard Haines (Janet), brother-in-law of Mary Connally and John Connally (Beth), also survived by nieces, nephews and a special friend Betty Graham.

Funeral Service: 10:30 AM Thursday, Februay 23, 2012 at the White-Luttrell Funeral Home, 311 N. Swarthmore Ave., Ridley Park, with a Masonic Service at 10:15 AM.

Visitation: 9:15 to 10:15 AM Thursday at the funeral home
Burial: Arlington Cemetery.
