Cunningham Melvin "Popper" Rhoads, 83, of Brookhaven died February 19, 2021 at Brinton Manor Nursing Home. Born in Chester, he was the son of the late Cunningham Edward Rhoads and Ida Mae Evans Rhoads. He resided in Aston before moving to Brookhaven last year.
Popper was a graduate of Chester High School and was employed as a Chemical Engineer at Allied Chemical. In his younger days, he loved spending his weekends on his boat in Buttonwood, MD. After retirement, he loved the casinos, especially Blackjack and the lucky ladies, and would play for days. Popper was always the center of attention with his storytelling and the only thing bigger than his charm was his booming laugh.
Popper was predeceased by his siblings Andrew W. "Gump" Rhoads, Joseph Edward Rhoads, Margaret DePalo, Stella Tinley, Beatrice Rhoads, John and Sheryl Rhoads (twins), Elizabeth D'Andreamatteo and Dorothy M. Rhoads.
Popper is survived by many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
Visitation: 12:00-12:30PM Tuesday, March 2, 2021 at White-Luttrell Funeral Homes, ltd., 3551 Concord Road, Aston PA 19014.
Burial: Lawn Croft Cemetery.
