Constantin "Gus" Zikas, 80, died peacefully on April 10, 2016 after a short battle with cancer. Born in Thessaloniki, Greece, he was the son of the late Louis and Aristea Mellios Zikas. The family immigrated to America when Gus was three years old and he grew up in Astoria Queens.
Gus graduated from New York University, class of 1957, with a Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Engineering. He worked for many corporations include Boeing, American Airlines, Xerox and finally Cigna, before retiring in 1998. Gus met and married his beloved wife, Fani, in 1968 and spent a lifetime traveling with his family. In recent years, he realized a lifelong dream of traveling to China, Russia and Turkey. Gus was a member of the St. George Greek Orthodox Church in Media and for many years, he enjoyed preparing food for the annual Greek festivals hosted by the Church. His final days were spent at home surrounded by friends and family.
Gus is survived by his wife, Fani; his sons, Louis Zikas (Kathy) and Nick Zikas (Amanda); his sister, Ann Murtos; his grandchildren, Anna, Owen, Benjamin and Avery; also his beloved niece, Alice Murtos.
Visitation: 7:00-9:00 PM Wednesday, April 13, 2016 and after 10:00 AM Thursday at the St. George Greek Orthodox Church, 30 E. Forge Rd., Media, PA 19063 with a Trisagion at 8:00 PM Wednesday
Funeral Service: 11:00 AM Thursday at the St. George Greek Orthodox Church, with Rev. Anastasios officiating.
Burial: Edgewood Memorial Park
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. George Greek Orthodox Church or the American Cancer Society.
