Obituary

Constance Katevatis, 81, of West Grove, passed peacefully on September 2, 2019 at the Briarleaf Nursing Home in Doylestown, Pennsylvania surrounded by her family.

Connie, as friends and family affectionately called her, was born on October 15, 1937 in Philadelphia to Harry and Anna Popas Metrokas. She grew up the youngest of five siblings all of whom precede her in death. She married Pete Katevatis at the age of 16 and had two beautiful daughters, Dawn and Donna. Later in life, she and longtime friend Tony Demopoulos joined their lives and shared many loving years together.

Over the years she was blessed to know, love, and share time with many grandchildren and even five great grandchildren. She was an incredibly loving and doting grandmother and great grandmother, but not without a sharp and enjoyable sense of humor. All of her grandchildren felt very close to her and lucky to have known her so well. She will be remembered for many things, especially her epic and inclusive Thanksgivings.

Connie worked most of her life in the restaurant business. She started her career at the Chancellor Sandwich Shop in Philadelphia. Beginning in 1982, she and her family owned and operated the Country Kettle, a popular gathering place for many families in Chadds Ford. She truly enjoyed her work and the diverse and interesting people whom she met. Her personality suited this work. Connie was personable, graceful, and exacting, all-important traits in running a restaurant with care and effectiveness. In 1997, after selling the restaurant, she and Tony ran his successful produce company, until their retirement.

Connie was predeceased by her first husband Pete Katevatis in 1997 and her long time husband, Tony Demopoulos, who died September 21, 2015.

She is survived by her children, Dawn K. Gill and husband Randy, Donna Katevatis Karas and her partner Bill, her grandchildren Elenna Sayers and husband Nicholas, Pete Christake and wife Whitney, Chris, Jon, and Eva Karas, Deanna, Alissa, and Jarrod Gill, and her great grandchildren Zoe, Evelyn, and Quinton Sayers and Audrey and Mason Christake. She was loved and will be missed by all. May her memory be eternal.
