Christy Sitaras, 84 of Concord Township, PA passed away peacefully on June 3, 2014.
Born in Chester, Mr. Sitaras was the son of the late Louis and Della (Pahides) Sitaras. Mr. Sitaras was a proud graduate of Eddystone High School, class of 1949.
He served his country, enlisting in the Merchant Marines in 1950 and was awarded an Honorable Discharge. In the 1950's, he worked alongside his father, Marcus Hook restaurateur Louis Sitaras at the L & S restaurant and later at the Star Hotel and Bar.
In 1959, Mr. Sitaras traveled to Chios Greece where he met and married his wife of 49 years, Kaliopi. In 1985, he realized his lifelong dream of owning his own tavern and restaurant, "Christy's In Linwood," which he operated until his recent retirement in 2013.
He loved being part of the Lower Chichester community and was a supporter of many community events.
Mr. Sitaras was a member of the St. George Greek Orthodox Church, The Chion Society of Agia Markella, and was on the Board of Directors of the Delaware County Licensed Beverage Association.
He was predeceased by his wife Kaliopi "Popi" who died in 2009.
Survivors: his son Louis Sitaras and daughter Della Terris (Alexander); brothers Jerry Sitaras and Demetrios Sitaras and three grandchildren whom he treasured with all his heart; Callie Terris, Lexi Terris and Monica Curley.
