Charles A. Wingood, 81, died April 1, 2011 at Taylor Hospital. Born in Scranton and reared in Bridgeport, CT and Kingston, PA he has lived in Ridley Park for the past 55 years.
Mr. Wingood was a graduate of Kingston High School, Class of 1947. He was a S/SGT in the Air Force during the Korean War, where he served with the Air Sea Rescue Squadron in Okinawa and was awarded the Japanese Occupation and Korean Service Medals. He was a member of VFW Anthracite Post #283 in Kingston, PA and The Church of St. Madeline. He was a postal clerk for the US Postal Service in Prospect Park for 43 years. He enjoyed photography and traveling, but most important was his family.
He was son of the late Aaron and Mary Wargo Wingood.
Survivors: his wife of 55 years Margaret M. "Peggy" Whalen Wingood, his children, James A. Wingood (Donna) of Broomall and Kathy Wingood Crouse (Bud) of Ridley Park, grandchildren Jennifer and Christine Wingood, Katie Fusaro (Dan), Michael and Kevin Crouse.
Funeral Mass: 10 AM Thursday at The Church of St. Madeline, Penn Street and Morton Avenue, Ridley Park.
Visitation: 7 to 9 PM Wednesday and 8:30 to 9:15 AM Thursday at the White-Luttrell Funeral Home, 311 N. Swarthmore Avenue, Ridley Park.
Burial: SS Peter & Paul Cemetery.
