Charles "Chase" Smith, 73 of Ridley Township passed away on August 16, 2025. He was born and raised in Elizabeth, NJ.
Chase was a graduate of Roselle Catholic High School, class of 1970. In 1973 he graduated from the 88th Class of the New Jersey State Police Academy. During his 30 year career as a State Trooper he continued his education at Middlesex County Community College, Northwestern University, and The US Command and General Staff College School of Advanced Military Studies receiving a bachelor's degree in criminal justice.
He was a member of the Association of Former New Jersey State Troopers.
Chase proudly served in the US Army Reserves for many years and was called into active duty post 9/11. He achieved the rank of Lieutenant Colonel before being honorably discharged in 2006. He continued his career working as the Deputy Chief of Police at the Philadelphia VA Medical Center. During retirement he enjoyed spending time with his family, summers in Wildwood Crest and riding his Harley.
He is survived by his loving and devoted wife Pamela Zizza Smith, his daughter Danielle Zizza Christy, her husband Rick and their children Taylor and Dylan. Other survivors include his children Chase and Shannon Smith. He was the son-in-law of Barbara Dodson Zizza and the late Carmen P. Zizza.
He was predeceased by his parents Robert and Joan Miller Smith and beloved dog Noelle.
A visitation will be held from 6:30 to 8:30 PM Friday, August 22, 2025 at the White-Luttrell Funeral Home, 311 N. Swarthmore Ave., Ridley Park. Visitation Saturday, August 23, 2025 will be held 9:30 to 10:30 AM, at Christ Episcopal Church, 104 Nevin Street, Ridley Park. Burial Rite and Eucharist Service will begin at 11 AM. Burial with military honors will take place on Thursday, August 28, 2025 at 11:30 AM at Washington Crossing National Cemetery, 830 Highland Rd., Newtown, PA 18940.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be to Tunnel's to Towers ( https://t2t.org/) , Wreath Across American ( www.wreathsacrossamerica.org/ ) or to a charity of your choice.
