Obituary

Charles D. "Charlie" Ricker, 64 of Ridley Township died on March 19, 2024 at his home surrounded by his loving family.

Charlie was a graduate of Ridley High School, class of 1977, where he played both running back and defensive back on the football team.  As quoted in the Daily Times, "Charlie carved his niche in Ridley football history as an untiring running back and defensive back, who never left the playing field.  At 5-10, 154-pounds, he was also one of the Green Raiders' most consistent performers, who made the Daily Times' 2nd-team All-Delco team as a senior defensive back."

Charlie was employed as a Project Manager in the Local 19 Sheet Metal Workers Union for over 40 years before retiring in 2021.  He was a member of Notre Dame de Lourdes R.C. Church and one of Ridley ABA's favorite basketball coaches.  He was an avid Ridley Football and Basketball fan, and also loved all Philadelphia Sports teams.  Charlie was blessed with an adoring wife of 47 years and 4 beautiful daughters who will always be "Daddy's Girls." Summer time brought him the most joy. Charlie enjoyed long days on the beach in North Wildwood and would outlast the sunset. When not spending time down the shore, you could find him in the backyard at home happily watching the grandchildren swim in "Poppy's Pool".  Charlie had 7 grandsons and 1 special granddaughter whom he loved dearly. He attended their sporting events and was always their number 1 fan!  Additionally, he cherished his weekly visits with his parents who lit up everytime he walked in the door. During football season, he would frequent the Owls Nest with his lifelong friends. Charlie held all of his family and friends in the highest regard.

He was the loving husband of 47 years to Mary Joan (Gormley) Ricker, loving father of Holly Bowell (Paul), Tara Doherty (Phil), Kerri Ricker (Kate) and Brenna Tomasetti (Louis), loving son of Charles and Marie (McKeown) Ricker, cherished grandfather of Devin, Derrick, Jake and Justin Bowell, Brett, Kylie and Brayden Doherty and Louis Tomasetti IV, brother of Sue McCullough (Bob) and Joseph Ricker (Joan) and is also survived by the Gormley Family; Linda Rowe, John Gormley (Pam), Joe Gormely (Didi), Frank Gormley (Mary Kay), Kevin Gormley (Sylvia) and Michele Taylor (Matt), as well as many nieces and nephews.
