Charles T. Oakley, 87 of Ridley Park died On March 13, 2025 surrounded by his children and family. He was born in Upper Darby, the son of late James E and Mary Presson Oakley. He lived in Folcroft with his wife Arleen before moving to Ridley Park 60 years ago.
Charles was a graduate of Upper Darby High School and was a proud Veteran of the US Army. He had a long career as a mechanic at the Sun Oil Refinery before his retirement in 2001. Charles loved spending summers in the Poconos with his wife Arleen and kids along with his brother's and their families. Many hours were spent side by side with his brothers fixing motorcycles so the kids would have great summer vacations. Charles loved hot rods and going to car shows and the teaching of his love of cars to his kids. Charles also loved playing solitaire on the computer and could sit for hours at a time playing and not even winning a game. More than anything he loved spending time with his family.
He was a loving husband of the late Arleen F. McVeigh Oakley who died February 23, 2017 after 57 years of marriage. He was the father of Charles T. Oakley (Danka) (late Lisa Oakley), William J. Oakley (Debbie), Arleen F. Oakley and John D. Oakley and grandfather of Charles T. Oakley III (Meghan) Candice M. Oakley, Danielle L. Egan (Bernie) and great grandfather to Lincoln and Liam and brother of the late James and Carol Oakley and he is also survived by his Macaw Henry.
Funeral Mass 10:15 AM Wednesday, March 19, 2025 at The Church of St. Madeline, 400 Morton Ave., Ridley Park where relatives and friends may call 9-10 AM. Jeans and Harley T-Shirts preferred, no suits allowed. Burial will follow in Glenwood Memorial Gardens.
