Charles E. Murray 85 of Aston died on January 6, 2014 at the Taylor Hospice Residence in Ridley Park.
Born in Madisonville, KY, he lived in Claymont before moving to his late residence in 1977.
He was an operator in the Filter plant at Sun Oil Company for over 40 years, retiring in 1985.
Mr. Murray was U.S. Army veteran, serving with the Military Police while stationed in Germany during WWII.
He was a member of St. James Episcopal Church in Aston, the American Legion Post 926 and the Sun Oil Honor Club.
Mr. Murray loved golfing, traveling, barbequing and was an avid Philadelphia sports fan, especially the Phillies.
He was man devoted to his family and his grandchildren were most important to him.
He was predeceased by his daughter Sharon T. Hurst; his parents Mitchel and Mary Edwards Murray; his stepfather Paul D. Hayes; his grandson Derron Derrickson and his great grandson Jeffrey Sherer, who died during active duty in Afghanistan.
Survivors: His wife of 65 years Erna Feghelm Murray; daughters Linda M. Derrickson and Heide K. Williamson; also 7 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.
