Obituary

Charles T. "Big Chal" Keenan, Jr., 72, of Folsom, passed away on August 2, 2025. Born in Philadelphia, the son of the late Charles T. and Helen V. (née Smith) Keenan, he lived in Philadelphia before settling in Folsom in 1997.

Big Chal was most recently employed as an Assistant Superintendent (gravedigger) at Holy Cross Cemetery in Yeadon. Earlier in life, he worked as a designer at John Carroll Flower Shop. A true Philadelphia sports fan, he especially loved cheering for the Eagles. He also enjoyed fishing but mostly he enjoyed spending time with his wife.

Of all his life's work, his greatest accomplishment was the family he raised. He taught loyalty, love, the importance of laughter, and the simple truth that no matter what, family comes first.

After 2½ years apart, Big Chal has been reunited with the love of his life, his wife Clare Keenan (née Cross), who passed away in February of 2023. Married for 47 years, theirs was a partnership built on love, laughter, and showing up  every single day.

He is survived by his children: Charles T. Keenan III (Michelle), Denise L. Donoflio (Bert), Melissa M. Keenan (Paul Melino), Jeanine J. Keenan (Nick Caponigro), and Charice Cimini (Sokol); his sister Linda M. Boyce (Jack); and was predeceased by his siblings Anthony J. Martone, Robert Martone, Carol Cleaver, and Alberta Smith.

G-Pop is lovingly remembered by his ten grandchildren and one great-grandson, who will carry his love, laughter, and lessons with them always.

Services and burial will be held privately.

The best way to honor Big Chal is to help someone in need. Whether it's school supplies, a holiday gift, or simply showing up when it matters.
