Charles S. Butler 79 of Aston, died August 2, 2012 at Riddle Memorial Hospital.
Born in Scranton, he was son of the late Claude and Helen Kessinger Butler, was raised in Norristown and lived in Aston since 1962.
Mr. Butler was an active member of St. James Episcopal Church as a former church school superintendent, treasurer and a member of the choir, Men's Club, bowling team and Vestry.
He served on the Wilkes University Alumni Board of Directors, was a life member of the Penn State Alumni Association and the Theta Xi Fraternity. He was also a Legion of Honor member of the Zembo Shrine in Harrisburg. Mr. Butler was an active volunteer for many organizations, including the Brandywine River Museum, and received President Obama's Volunteer Service award plus several volunteer awards from the American Red Cross.
Mr. Butler was a U.S. Army veteran, serving in Germany during the Korean Was and received the Army of Occupation Medal and the National Defense Service Medal.
Survivors; his wife of 53 years Mildred McCowan Butler; daughters Cindy Evans of Aston, Connie Long of Exton and Dr. Karen Butler of Charlotte, NC; his son Chuck Butler of Rochester, MI; also six grandchildren.
Memorial Service 11:00AM Saturday at St. James Episcopal Church, 3210 Concord Rd., Aston, PA 19014.
