Obituary

Charles William "Bill" Belk, Jr., age 73, passed away on Thursday, March 6th 2025, at his home in Palm Coast, Florida. He was born in Philadelphia, but grew up in Delaware County and spent much of his adult life there before retiring to Florida 7 years ago.  He graduated from Sharon Hill High School in 1969.

After high school, he started a moving business, B&B Moving and Hauling with life-long friend, Robert Bardsley. They also enlisted in the U.S. Air Force together in March 1971. After boot camp and tech school, Bill was sent to Bien Hoa Air Force Base in Vietnam. He served there for two tours, attaining the rank of Staff Sargent before he was honorably discharged in 1978.

As a civilian, he continued to travel through his employment with NA SA and RCA Corp., working on electronics and radars. He relocated to Delaware County when he met his future wife, Donna. They were married in 1989 and due to his work, continued to travel the first few years of their marriage, living in California and Idaho before coming back to settle in Folcroft. His last job prior to retirement was with MCI Wireless Solutions as a Transmitter Engineer.

Bill was a life long Philadelphia sports fan, enjoying Phillies and Eagles games each season. He was also active in the Delco Church Softball League during the 1990's, as a member of the St. John's team. Throughout his life, Bill displayed the extraordinary talent of being a "Mr. Fix It", possessing the ability to trouble shoot and repair almost anything. He was always willing to instruct the next generation of handy men in his family, passing down his skills and knowledge. His only real failing, was an extreme weakness for very corny "Dad Jokes". He absolutely delighted in eliciting groans and eye rolls from those whom he would infict this humor upon. It got so the only one who could appreciate his jokes was his sweet dog Gracie. Aside from the Dad jokes, Bill was a loving son, husband, father, brother, and grandfather who loved his country and cherished his family, and will be forever missed by them.

He was predeceased by his parents, Charles and Mary Belk, sister Charlene Anastasio, and brother Donald Belk. He is survived by his devoted wife of 36 years Donna, daughter Rebecca Bell (Andrew), grandson Jackson Bell, stepson Christopher Dorrin, sister Mary Wood (Marshall), and many nieces and nephews.
