Charles F. Alvin, born November 26, 1965, passed away unexpectedly on February 2, 2026. Charles was a devoted son, brother, and friend whose kindness and sense of humor touched everyone who knew him.
A lifelong fan of the Philadelphia Flyers and the Cincinnati Bengals and usually a random team each year - this year it was Texas A&M, Charles always knew what was happening with all of his sports teams and was always sure to call everyone he knew to be sure they knew the score of last nights game.
Charles also loved Karate. He had taken karate lessons for a long time and achieved a red belt and was getting ready to test for his first degree black belt. That you to his devoted instructors over the years - most recently Brandon and Miss Cat.
Charles also had a special place in his heart for animals, especially cats. He never missed a chance to call his mother and sister and ask what the cats were up to, or to visit just to spend time with them.
Recently, Charles moved from Philadelphia to Wallingford Pa, to a new home closer to his family. He was just getting settled in and familiar with his new roommates and caregivers. Everyone was excited about the move which would allow him to be closer to his mother and sister and allow them to spend more time together. Charles may have been more excited to be closer to his three favorite cats.
Charles will be laid to rest with his beloved Grandmom Rose, fulfilling his wish to be by her side. He is survived by his loving mother, Elaine Alvin (nee Kelly), and his sister, Wendy Houghton (the late Wayne) of Historic New Castle, DE. He was preceded in death by his father, Frank Alvin, in January 2021. Charles will also be fondly remembered by many loving family members and friends, including Skippy(Joseph Lehman), Aunt Jackie, Aunt Linda, Aunt Nancy, Anthony and his many cousins and family members
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to all of Charles’s caregivers over the years, especially those from TAIG and Merakey, for their kindness, dedication, and compassion in supporting him and enhancing his quality of life.
Charles’s love for his family, and genuine care for others will be deeply missed and forever remembered. Thank you to the Philadelphia staff Josephine Kohn, Marquise Nichols, Shamir Broadnax, Deja Collier, Conchetta Betts, Latrina Lewis, Irene Appiah, and the new staff who were just getting to know Charles: Amy, Aminata, Barbara, Regina, Jessie, Sabrina, Pam Watcher, Diana Downing, Andrea Denny, Diane Dydak , and Tracey Perry.
A Memorial Service will be held at 12 noon, on Saturday, March 7, 2026 at the White-Luttrell Funeral Home, 311 N. Swarthmore Ave., Ridley Park where relatives and friends may call after 11 AM. Burial will be held at a later date.
