Carolyn A. Henderson, 85 of Glen Mills died on May 22, 2025 at her home. Born in Upper Darby, the daughter of the late Joseph and Irma Pierce Sharpless, she was raised in Glenolden and lived in Ridley Park before moving to Glen Mills nine years ago.
Carolyn was a graduate of Interboro High School, class of 1958 where she was a high scorer on the basketball team and was also a majorette. Before her retirement in 2011, she was employed as an Insurance Administrator at Orthodontics Associates for 30 years and had previously worked at Baldwin Lima Hamilton Locomotive. Carolyn was an active member at the Ridley Park Presbyterian Church where she served as a Deacon and Elder and also volunteered at the Christmas Bazaar. She always attended her son's and grandchildren's activities and loved celebrating the holidays, but most important was her family, friends and her cherished grandchildren.
She was the loving wife of 35 years to Richard G. Henderson, mother of Scott L. Torrens (Tina) and Wayne D. Torrens (Victoria), sister of Joanne Lange (Bert) and the late William Sharpless and is also survived by her grandchildren Connor Torrens, Carly Torrens, Jacob Torrens, Wayne Torrens, Jr., and Matthew Torrens.
A Funeral Service will be held at 11 AM on Thursday, July 24, 2025 at the Ridley Park Presbyterian Church, 300 N. Swarthmore Ave., Ridley Park where relatives and friends may call after 10 AM. Burial will follow in the adjoining church memorial garden.
