Carmen "Charlie" Maurone, Jr., 91 of Ridley Park died on September 14, 2023.  Born and raised in Philadelphia, Charlie has been a resident of Ridley Park for the last 66 years.
Charlie was a graduate of South Catholic High School, class of 1949 and also graduated from Pierce Junior College with a degree in accounting.  He owned and operated Professional Accounting Services for over 50 years before retiring in 2008 and he also was the owner and founder of the Ridley News.  Charlie was a member of The Church of St. Madeline where he served as Co-Chairman of St. Madeline's expansion fund that was dedicated to building the new church during the 1960's.  He was also the former Treasurer of the Ridley Park Business Association and the former Treasurer for Ridley Township.  Charlie escorted Robert F. Kennedy during Mr. Kennedy's presidential campaign.  He was proud of his Italian heritage and was an excellent Italian cook, he was also an avid Philadelphia sports fan and enjoyed photography, but most important was his family especially his cherished grandchildren.
Charlie was the loving husband of 68 years to Mary C. Hance Maurone, father of Michael Maurone, Janet Pastor (Mike), Marianne Maurone (Robert Jackle), Theresa Essen and Charles Maurone (Kelley Cahill), grandfather of Matt, Tom and Mike Pastor, CJ Brooks (Kate), Samantha and Connor Jackle, Allie Essen, Lindsay and Tori Maurone, great-grandfather of Otis Brooks, brother of Angelo Maurone (Nancy), Philip Maurone (Josephine) and the late Domenic Maurone, Frank Maurone, and Mary Maurone Love, son of the late Carmen C. and Mary Petracca Maurone, stepson of the late Victoria Miglarese, he is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Funeral Mass 10:30 AM Friday, September 22, 2023 at The Church of St. Madeline, 400 Morton Ave., Ridley Park where relatives and friends may call 9:00 to 10:15 AM.  Burial private.
