Obituary

Carl E. "Kikey" McElwee, 88, of Crum Lynne died December 13, 2016 at his home. Born in Chester, he was the son of the late Michael and May Reid McElwee and was raised and lived in Eddystone before moving to his late residence 56 years ago.

Carl was a graduate of Eddystone High School, class of 1947 and was a member of St. Rose of Lima R.C. Church. He was employed by PECO for 20 years before retiring in 1990 and previously worked for Curtis Publishing Co. Carl was a stand out athlete in Delaware County. He was a key member of one of the finest infields in the 110 year history of the Delco League. He was the third baseman with lifelong pals John "Duke" Keith on 2nd, Jimmy "Ringo" Warrington at short and Angelo Tiburzi on first. During the 1950's, the quartet sparked championship teams at St. Hedwig's CC, Sun Village AA, El Rancho and Lloyd AC. Kikey was inducted into the Delco Hall of Fame in 1992 for baseball.

Carl was predeceased by his brother, Lawrence McElwee and his sister, Catherine Walker.

Survivors: cherished husband of Kathleen E. Newman McElwee, his wife of 58 years; father of Joseph P. McElwee (Jean), Karen M. McElwee Reeves (Allen) and David A. McElwee (Kate); grandfather of Joshua Taylor, Lauren Taylor, Allen Reeves, III (Christina), Ashlee Reeves, Brennah McElwee, Jessica McDevitt and Lauren Jenkins; great grandfather of Gavyn Plasha, Aiden Reeves and Mason Stewart; also, his special nephew, Lawrence McElwee, Jr. (Karen) and his special niece, Terri McElwee.

Visitation: 8:45-9:45 AM Friday, December 16, 2016 at St. Rose of Lima R.C. Church, 1901 Chester Pike, Eddystone, PA 19022

Funeral Mass: 10:00 AM Friday at church

Burial: Private
