Calvin A. Valenti, Sr., 86, of Ridley Park died December 5, 2013 at his home. Born in Philadelphia he was son of the late Emidio and Anna Pecoria Valenti.
Calvin was a graduate of South Philadelphia High School, class of 1945. He was a U.S. Army Veteran who served during World War II, receiving the Army Occupation Medal and the World War II Victory Medal. He was last employed at Lou's Gulf for 10 years, and was previously employed as a Milkman for Abbott's Dairies. Calvin umpired baseball for the Ridley Park Boys Club. He enjoyed trips to the casinos, the Phillies and Eagles, and was a devoted Penn State fan, but most important was his devotion to his family.
He was brother of the late Armen Valenti.
Survivors: beloved husband of 61 years to Rose Sacilotto Valenti, father of Diana Valenti Morgan, Calvin A. Valenti, Jr., and Michael J. Valenti (Janet), grandfather of Brianna, Anthony and Marissa, brother of Rita Frederico (late Joseph) and Angelina Valenti, brother-in-law of Grace Valenti, also nieces and nephews.
Funeral Mass: 10:30 AM Thursday at The Church of St. Madeline, Penn St. and Morton Ave., Ridley Park
Visitation: 9:30 to 10:15 AM Thursday at the church
