C. Michael Dwyer, 57, of Wallingford died January 29, 2018 at his home. Born at Sacred Heart Hospital in Chester, he is the loving son of Dr. M. Joseph, Jr. and Mary Devaney Dwyer and resided in Ridley Park before moving to his late residence 48 years ago. He was a member of St. John Chrysostom R.C. Church.
Michael, my son, was a beautiful gift from God, an answer to my prayers sent here to teach us all many things and to show us, by example, how we should be. He was kind and gentle and caring and incredibly loving of family and friends and all of those he met along the way. Michael was taught to be thoughtful, to be the best person he can be, do the best that he could do, to help those who needed help and care for those who needed care. We prayed this every night and Michael followed it to a "T" with his big and loving heart.
He made everyone feel better about themselves and for many to understand that we are all together in this world to make it a better place. Michael did. He was not afraid of life. Michael enjoyed doing new things but appreciated the helpful encouragement of those he loved.
Michael was fortunate in being exposed with his wonderful family to wonderful adventures. "Be Not Afraid" I told him and he wasn't, but, he was not reckless. Michael loved the song as well as music of most kinds. He, as a child, would direct orchestras on the stereo with his little drumsticks to Peter and the Wolf and other classics. Michael used to fly kites on the beaches, ride his bicycle through Wallingford and on the boardwalk in the summer. We rode a tandem bike until he got used to the area. Michael sailed in a hot air balloon in the Blue Ridge Mountains in the summer and loving being up in the sky.
He skied the Poconos and in Colorado and Canada for many years and loved every moment. Friends taught him many things, Michael bowled, played putt-putt and did very well at pool taught to him by a wonderful elderly granduncle, "Cuz." Michael held two jobs at home when he finished school, although he had been in training since he was a little boy. His jobs were, "Assistant Homemaker" and "Sous Chef" both of which Michael performed to perfection.
I could say more about Michael and his personality but it's not necessary now. Those who knew him will remember him and his singing and dancing and his overall joy. Michael often said he was happy and not to worry as he reassured us all when he thought we needed it. And did I mention how very funny Michael was or how unbelievably intuitive, a phenomenon that baffled and taught us all about our souls, the greatest part of our stored-up knowledge
There are many things I could say about Michael, but those of us who know and loved him already know them and hold him in our hearts. God Bless our son, Michael, now asleep in Heavenly Peace forever.
Michael is survived by his aunts, Sue Collins and Katherine Kiggins; his uncle, James Dwyer (Francine); his cousins, Beth Ann Brown, Alisha Dwyer, Gerry Russo, Joanie Greenwood, Donald Collins, Kevin Collins, Thomas Kiggins and Jack Kiggins; and his caregiver and best friend, Cathleen Shuda.
