Bruce Arthur Keller, 84, of Glen Mills passed away March 29, 2017 at Fair Acres Geriatric Center. Born in Johnson City, NY, he was the son of the late Charles Edward Keller and the late Thelma Virginia Guild Keller. He resided in upstate New York and then in Lansdale, PA before moving to Glen Mills 22 years ago.
Bruce was a graduate of Scranton High School, class of 1950. He attended junior college in Florida, then later on earned a BA in sociology from Alfred University in 1975. Bruce served in the US Navy during the Korean War as a "tin-can sailor" on two destroyer-class ships: the USS Rowe and the USS Bearss. During his Navy stint he was a communications tech working in the ships' radio shacks. Early in his work career he was employed at General Dynamics and worked on computer systems for the Mercury space program. He worked most of his career in computer technology, and he had also taught at Alfred State Technical College and Temple University. Before he retired, he was employed as a technical writer for Drexel Industries in Willow Grove. Bruce was a member of St. John's Episcopal Church and the VFW Lenni Post. He sang barbershop throughout his life and was a member of many choruses and quartets. Most recently he was a member of the DelChordians Chorus. All his life, Bruce was an avid reader and enjoyed science fiction, writing, drawing, cartooning, calligraphy, math, music, traveling, animals and reading to children.
Bruce was predeceased by his younger sister, Susan Mary Andersen (Stephen), and both his parents.
Survivors: Frances Hitner Shryock Berger Keller, his loving wife of 22 years; his four children, Karen Leslie Keller, Brenda Lynn Hood (Patrick), David Edward Keller and Dorothy Adeline Winslet (Graham); his stepsons, Robert Francis Shryock and Daniel Harrison Shryock; his sisters, Marcia Ann Allen and Gingie Cummins; brother John Keller; his grandchildren, Eric Jacob Newland (Heather) and Craig Daniel Newland; his step-grandchildren, Tara Marie Shryock, Justin Shryock, Erick Shryock, Christopher Shryock and Daniel Harrison Shryock, Jr.; his great-grandchildren, Aubrielle Hope Newland and Elijah Jordan Newland; and his step-great-grandchildren, Brielle Shryock and Bryce Shryock.
