Brian Gerard Ryan, 64, a lifelong resident of Delaware County, died on July 20, 2023 at his home in Wallingford, PA. Born in Ridley Park, he was the son of the late John F. Ryan and Muriel C. Ryan (Moore).
Brian attended St. James High School, but graduated from Ridley High School, class of 1976, where he was on the track and field team and threw shot put. He went on to receive a bachelor's degree from the Art Institute of Philadelphia. Brian's passion for the arts followed him all through life, with his favorite mediums to work being watercolors and drawing in pencil. Brian was employed as a Marketing Manager for American Income Life, where he was able to make use of one of his greatest skills, his ability to connect to others. Brian was also an avid fan of the Philadelphia Eagles and Phillies. Before his passing, he had the opportunity to see the Phillies dominate against the Washington Nationals on July 1, 2023, where the final score was 19-4. In his free time he also enjoyed playing basketball, riding his bike, visiting his favorite places in Philadelphia, and taking trips to Wildwood to dip his feet in the sand.
He was the loving husband to Bettialice "Betts" Ryan (Scholtz), father to Shawn Ryan (Kayla) and Christian Ryan, brother to Kathy Goodwin (Tony), Terry Ryan (Diane), Kevin Ryan (Cathy), Maureen Busa (John), and the late Bob Ryan, he is also survived by many nieces and nephews, and great-nieces and great-nephews. He also leaves behind his beloved tuxedo cat, Popcorn, who he raised from a kitten.
His family will always remember Brian as an old soul. A beautiful man with a huge heart. Always a smile, handshake or hug, and a quick witted joke somewhere to follow. Brian is the kind of man you can't forget because they don't make them like that anymore. One of a kind…forever and always our boy.
