Obituary

Boyd A. "Bud" Hemphill, Sr. 88, of Granite Farms Estates, died June 24, 2012 at his home.

Born in Philadelphia, he lived in Darby before moving to his late residence in 1998.

Bud was a letter carrier for the U.S. Postal Service for 19 years, retiring in 1987 and previously worked for the Curtis Publishing Company.

He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving during WWII and received the European African Middle Eastern Service Medal with Three Bronze Stars, the Distinguished Unit Badge and the Good Conduct Medal.

Bud was a member of the Church of St. Joseph, the VFW Post #1583 in Darby and was previously active with Boy Scouts of America, Troop #224 where he served as treasurer. Most important to Bud was his family, especially his grandchildren.

He was son of the late Boyd A. and Anna Walker Hemphill, husband of the late Rita R. Falciatore Hemphill who died in 1987 and father of the late Stephen C. Hemphill who died in 1984.

Survivors: his sons Boyd A. Hemphill, Jr. (Marion), Thomas B. Hemphill (Pat) and William A. Hemphill , also seven grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren.

Funeral Mass 10:00AM Friday, June 29, 2012 at the Church of St. Joseph, 3255 Concord Rd., Aston.

Visitation 7:00 to 9:00PM Thursday and 8:30 to 9:15AM Friday at the White-Luttrell Funeral Home, 3551 Concord Rd., Aston. Burial West Laurel Hill Cemetery.
