Betsy F. Schoppe Fachet, 99, of Ridley Park, died October 2, 2015 at Taylor Hospital. Born in Lester, she was daughter of the late William and Olga Kroll Schoppe. Betsy lived in Milmont Park for 75 years before moving to her late residence four and a half years ago.
She graduated from Ridley High School, class of 1933 and worked as an International Purchasing Agent for Scott Paper Co. before retiring in 1985. Bessie was ahead of her time working her way from entry level into a corporate management position. Betsy was a member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church and also attended Ridley Park U.M. Church.
She enjoyed crossword puzzles, word search, sewing, gardening, cooking, world traveling, carpentry, bowling and taught herself how to play the organ. Betsy was a member of the School House Senior Center and the R.P. Young at Heart. She was a season ticket holder and Flyer's fan as well as an avid Phillies fan. She knitted slippers for gifts known as Betsy's Booties and was a dedicated volunteer for Admiral Joe Sestak. Most important she was a very social person and enjoyed life, her family and many friends.
Betsy was predeceased by her husband, Adam Fachet, Jr., who died 1977; her children, Adam Fachet, III and Betsy Lou Piccioni; her longtime companion of 30 years, George Whitton; and her siblings Olga Robinson, Otto Schoppe, William Schoppe and Helen Porter.
She was mother of Jeanne L. Frantz; also survived by six grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
