August Charles Peters, born February 17th, 1934, passed away on February 8th, 2026 in Glen Mills, PA, at the age of 91.

August was born in Freeland, Pennsylvania to August Peters and Patricia Kiddish Peters. He grew up in Drifton, PA, and he graduated from Hazle Township High School in 1951. He entered the United States Army, serving in Germany during the Korean War. He also graduated from the McCann School of Business and worked as a Clerk Typist in Maryland. He later graduated from Williamsport Technical Institute where he was trained as a machinist.

August met Johanne Bonan in February 1957, and they were married on October 22nd, 1960 at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in Hazleton, PA. They moved to Norwood, Pennsylvania and later bought a house in the Delmar Village in Folcroft, Pennsylvania. It was here where they raised their children. They were members of St. Gabriel's Church in Norwood, PA.

August worked at the Philadelphia Naval Shipyard for 32 years. He also had a Grass-Cutting Business and was a Softball Coach for the Folcroft Girls Club. In 1989, he retired and relocated to Aston, Pennsylvania where he was a Parishioner of the Church of Saint Joseph and worked there part-time as Maintenance Personnel. He even built a Temporary Wooden Altar for their Church Hall where Mass was being said during the construction of their new Church Building.

In 2006, August and Johanne were the very first residents to move into the newly-built Maris Grove Retirement Community. There he was a member of the Woodshop, belonged to many groups that played cards and Scrabble, and portrayed Saint Joseph in the Living Nativity on Christmas Eve for many years.

Known to his family and friends by "Augie" or "Gus", he always greeted everyone with a hug or a firm handshake. He had several dogs including Tammy, Herky, and Sandy with whom he loved spending time. He loved watching Eagles Football and was a season ticket holder for the Philadelphia Phillies. He traveled all over the country with his family taking many trips to Maine and Florida to visit his sisters. He even planned a month-long Cross Country Road Trip in the Summer of 1978. He played softball and sang in a Barbershop Chorus. Some of his favorite things to enjoy were Coffee, Cookies, Tasty Cakes, Peanut Chews, and nearly every flavor of Ice Cream.
