August "Gus" J. Ober, III, 70 died on May 9, 2025. Born in Philadelphia, he lived in Boothwyn for many years before moving to Swarthmore 22 years ago and also enjoyed spending time in Ocean City, NJ (his happy place).
Gus was a graduate of St. James High School, class of 1972 and then went on to recieve an associates degree from Penn State University and a bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from Temple University. He owned and operated PWC, Inc. for many years. Gus was a member of Our Lady of Peace R.C. Church and the St. James Alumni Association, he was also a social member of Herbert W. Best VFW and Ferguson-Foglio Post 6650 VFW in Ocean City. He was an avid Philadelphia sports fan, especially of the Eagles and also enjoyed reading and golfing. Gus always participated in several fantasy football leagues, but most important was his family especially his cherished granddaughters.
He was the loving husband of Denise Clasby Ober, father of A.J. Ober (Megan), Bill Ober and Candice Ober (fiance' Andrew Koenig), son of August J. Ober, Jr. and the late Veronica M. "Ronnie" Donato Ober, grandfather of Breanna Devaney and Finleigh Ober, brother of Sharon L. Lima (Stanley L. Kadash) and Stephen Ober (Brenda), brother-in-law of Bridie Scanlan (Kevin) and is also survived by special friends Bill and Mary Ellen Carrozza.
Funeral Mass 11 AM Saturday, May 17, 2025 at Our Lady of Peace R.C. Church, 208 Milmont Avenue, Milmont Park, PA where relatives and friends may call 9 to 10:30 AM. Burial private.
