Obituary

Anthony J. Mottola, 92, died on March 3, 2018, preceding his wife of 53 years, Virginia E. Rickey Mottola, 90, who died on March 8, 2018. They were longtime residents of Milmont Park before moving to Cinnaminson, NJ two years ago.

Anthony was born and raised in Darby and was a graduate of Darby High School, class of 1943. He served in the US Army during WWII. Anthony was a foreman for Philadelphia Electric of 38 years, retiring in 1987. He was a member of Christ Church Episcopal in Ridley Park serving as an Usher, money counter and on the "A" team (men doing work around the church) and was a volunteer serving the homeless. Anthony enjoyed construction, woodworking, was an avid pinochle player and loved spending time at their family summer home in Earleville, MD.

He was the son of the late Anthony and Jenny Arricola Mottola; brother of the late Adolf R. Mottola, Lee Prioetto, Albert Mottola and Ralph Mottola, who was killed during WWII and is buried at Lorraine, France.

Virginia was born in Philadelphia and was the daughter of the late Marvin and Aileen Elliott Rickey. She was a graduate of West Philadelphia High School, class of 1945 and was a settlement clerk for Provident Mutual Insurance Company in Philadelphia for five years. Virginia was a member of Christ Church Episcopal where she served as a money counter and stuffer. She was a former member of Unity Chapter Eastern Star where she was a Worthy Matron and also volunteered preparing and serving meals to the homeless.

Anthony and Virginia were predeceased by their son, Mark A. Mottola.

They are survived by their children, Glenn L. Yacono, Charlotte M. Livingstone-Perry, Anthony C. Mottola, Ruthann Neshamkin and Michael A. Mottola; seven grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; and Anthony's siblings, Connie Cecchine and Joseph Mottola.

Burial Rite and Eucharist: 11:00AM Saturday, April 28, 2018 at Christ Church Episcopal, 104 Nevin Street, Ridley Park, PA 19078. Burial in the adjoining cemetery. The family will receive friends following the service.
