Obituary

Anthony L. (Tony) June, 70 of Brookhaven, died June 19th at home with family by his side. Born in Chester, he was a long time resident of Aston before moving to Brookhaven in 1985. Mr. June was a security officer for General Chemical Corporation in Claymont, DE after working at Delaware County Prison as a shift commander, Lieutenant of the Correction Officers.



Mr. June was an avid softball player in the Chester Control Pitch League, once pitching a no hitter in a league known for hitting. He also played baseball and football in his youth for Media High School before graduating in 1962. He played baseball for Green Ridge Co-Del Teener and Senior Leagues where he was an All Star catcher.



He loved to vacation in Rehoboth Beach, DE and was an avid boater and loved fishing in the Chesapeake Bay. He was a fan of all Philly sports teams and especially enjoyed the Phillies and Eagles. His greatest enjoyment came from spending time with his family, especially his grandson Vinnie, his buddy and the light of his life.



Mr. June was a member of Our Lady of Charity Parish in Brookhaven. He was also a member of The American Legion Post 926, where he would meet his pals in the afternoon. Mr. June served as President of The Sun Valley High School Band and Choral Association for nine years where he worked hard to keep the music programs alive in the school district.



He was the son of the late Carl and Antonette DeJohn June and the brother of the late Carol June. He cultivated strong bonds of love and friendship throughout his life and will be greatly missed by all whose lives he touched.



Survivors: Wife Frances Ciekawy June of Brookhaven, Son Anthony N. June (Norene) of Malvern, PA, Grandson Vincent A. June, Brothers Carl R. June (Lorraine) of Lewes, DE, Leo V. June (Eleanor) of Morton, PA, Geoffrey A. June (Sharon) of Aston, PA, and 7 nieces and nephews.



Funeral Service: 10:30 AM Thursday at the White-Luttrell Funeral Home, 3551 Concord Rd., Aston where friends may call 9:15 to 10:30 AM.



Interment will be a later date and private.



In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in the name of Anthony June to the Wounded Warriors Foundation.
