Obituary

Anthony G. "Tony" Del Beato, 92 of Brookhaven, died December 13, 2010 at Crozer Chester Medical Center.

Born in Philadelphia, he lived in South Philadelphia for many years before moving to Brookhaven two years ago.

Mr. Del Beato was Paper Storage Foreman at the Philadelphia Inquirer for forty years, before reluctantly retiring at the age of 70 in 1988.

He proudly served in combat for two and a half years as a Machine Gun Sergeant in the U.S. Army during WWII and was considered part of the "Greatest Generation."

Tony was a true "servant leader" to all of his family. Their well being was always his primary concern. Tony "I" and family first go hand in hand. Upon his father's death, he took over the responsibility of caring for his mother and three sisters. He raised a son and four married daughters and stayed extremely active in his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren's lives. Tony was a role model to his son-in-laws Anthony (deceased), Jim, Joe and Ed. He was an avid Phillies fan and a regular at the racetrack and casino. He will be sadly missed by his family, yet they are blessed to have a lifetime of wonderful memories.

Mr. Del Beato was husband of the late Lena M. Carracillo Del Beato, his wife of 63 years at the time of her death July 24, 2005, son of the late Augustine and Susan LaSignore Del Beato, and brother of the late Mildred Lombardo and Rose Dusillo.

Del Beato, Jr. of Florida, Diana Naselli (Joseph) of Media, Joan Burns (James) of Ridley Park, Lorraine Amalfitano (Late Anthony) of Brookhaven and Marlene Cavaliere (Edward) of Ridley Park, sister; Ann Ruggiano of New Jersey, twelve grandchildren and twenty six great-grandhcildren.
