Annette "Anita" O'Reilly Hackney of Ridley Park joined her family in heaven on December 14th at Taylor Hospital.
Anita grew up in Southwest Philadelphia and attended West Catholic High School. She married her high school sweetheart, Tom, in 1963 and moved to Ridley Park. She was blessed with twins, Beth and Patti, and was overjoyed to welcome her third daughter, Meg, fifteen years later. Anita was formerly employed by USF & G in Philadelphia and Penn Bottle and Supply Company in Essington. In addition, she worked for St. Vincent's Home for Children in Philadelphia for many years where she frequently welcomed children into her home to spend time with her family.
Anita enjoyed baking, traveling, watching "her boys" the Impractical Jokers, and spending time with her family and friends of many years. Always the life of the party, she was known for her infectious laugh, her sharp wit, and her generosity. In recent years, she spent countless hours surrounded by her children and grandchildren.
Anita is survived by her adoring husband of 61 years, Thomas Hackney; three daughters- Beth (Tom) Henry of Rose Valley, Patti (Tom) Reed of Havertown, and Meg Hackney of West Philadelphia; five grandchildren- Lauren (Michael) Krsulic, Tommy Henry, Cassandra Reed, Catherine Reed and Mitchell Henry; one great-grandchild- Elaina Krsulic; as well as many nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly. She is preceded in death by her parents, Margaret and Vincent O'Reilly, as well as her six siblings.
Family and friends are welcomed to join in visitation on Saturday, December 21st from 9:00-10:45 A.M followed by her funeral mass at 11 A.M at St. Madeline Church, 110 Park Street, Ridley Park, PA 19078. A private Christian burial will follow.
In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the Hope Rescue Mission at 645 North 6th Street, Reading, PA 19601.
