Anna T. O'Neill McDevitt, 90, of Ridley Park died February 20, 2017 at Conner Williams Nursing Home. Born and raised in Philadelphia, she was the daughter of the late John and Maryellen McFadden O'Neill.
Anna was a graduate of John W. Hallahan High School for Girls, class of 1943. Immediately following graduation, she was employed as an expediter by the United States Naval Yard in South Philadelphia for the duration of World War II. After raising her family, she was employed by Sears Company as a Data Entry Operator for 10 years before retiring in 1989. She previously worked as a temp for Kelly Services. Anna was a member of the Church of St. Madeline where she volunteered with many church and school activities and was a founding member of St. Madeline School Library. She was a member of the Ridley Park Seniors, New Life Seniors and HOPE. Anna was an avid reader, enjoyed sewing and making greeting cards on the computer.
She was predeceased by her husband of 38 years, Joseph J. McDevitt, who died November 26, 1982; her sister, Mary Flood; and her brothers, John, William, Charles and Bernard O'Neill
Anna is survived by her eight children: Joseph J. McDevitt, Jr. (Kathy), Maureen Dubyak (George), Ann Willman (Richard), Kathleen Dean (Michael), Joan McDevitt, Teresa McCullough (James), John McDevitt (Connie) and Thomas McDevitt (Kelly); 18 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Funeral Mass: 10:30 AM Monday, February 27, 2017 at the Church of St. Madeline, 400 Morton Ave., Ridley Park, PA 19078
Visitation: 6:00-8:00 PM Sunday at the White-Luttrell Funeral Home, 311 N. Swarthmore Ave., Ridley Park and 9:15-10:15 AM Monday at the church
Burial: SS. Peter and Paul Cemetery
