Angela S. "Angie" Karagianis, 90 of Brookhaven died on August 25, 2023 at her home. Born in Sparta, Greece, the daughter of the late Demosthenes and Georgia Pisanou Nanos, she moved to the United States in 1941, settling in Philadelphia. She lived in Chester, before moving to Brookhaven 41 years ago.
Angie was a graduate of Bok Technical School in Philadelphia, class of 1951. She owned and operated the Elwyn Restaurant with her husband and son for many years before retiring in 2005 and then went on to work at Party Land in Brookhaven. Angie was a member of St. George Greek Orthodox Church, where she was a member of the Chion Society Chapter Agia Markella, the Philoptohos Society and the Daughters of Penelope. She loved her Greek heritage and her church but most important was her loving family.
She was the loving wife of the late Stelios "Steve" Karagianis, mother of Matthew Karagianis (Debra), Maria Georgalas (George) and the late Georgia S. Karagianis, Yia Yia to Andrew Georgalas (Analiese), Kevin Bongard, Jennifer Bongard and the late Markella G. Georgalas, sister of the late Tony Nanos (Ann) and Joann Lauer (Robert), she is also survived by nieces, nephews, Simbetheros John Georgalas and her best friends Carol and Fred McCleft.
Funeral Service 11 AM Wednesday, August 30, 2023at St. George Greek Orthodox Church, 30 E. Forge Rd., Media, PA 19063 where relatives and friends may call 9:30 to 10:45 AM. Burial Lawn Croft Cemetery.
