Alice D. "Dolly" Otruba Benson, 86, of Ridley Park died July 2, 2017 at her home with her family. Born in Chester daughter of the late Joseph P. and Anna A. Dougherty Otruba, she lived in Milmont Park before moving to Ridley Park in 1957.
Dolly was a graduate of Notre Dame High School for Girls, class of 1948 and the Fitzgerald Mercy Hospital School. She was last employed as a Lab Tech at Taylor Hospital and had previously worked at Sacred Heart Hospital and Riddle Memorial Hospital. Dolly enjoyed doing crafts, baking, camping and traveling the world with the "Chosen One". She was fluid in the family dialect Bensoneez.
Dolly was a former member of the Ridley Park Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary and the Ridley Park Boys Club where she was known for her game day Sloppy Joes.
She was wife of the late Francis T. "Frank" Benson who died March 21, 1995 after 41 years of marriage, sister of the late Joseph and James Otruba.
She is survived by her children Frank T., Jr., John, Thomas (Nancy), Matthew, Judith, Alyse and Michael Benson, and Anna Small, also 14 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral Mass 10:30 AM Saturday at The Church of St. Madeline, 400 Morton Ave, Ridley Park where friends may call 8:30 to 10:15 AM.
Burial SS. Peter & Paul Cemetery.
