Obituary

Alexander J. Gillespie, 83, of Blue Bell, died peacefully on December 19, 2016. Born in Chester, he was the son of the late Alexander J. and Alice Booth Gillespie. He was a resident of Aston for 40 years, until moving to Blue Bell in 2013.

Alexander was a graduate of St. James High School and PMC College, now Widener University. He was a supervisor in the Lab at Sun Oil Refinery for 43 years, retiring in 1995.

Alexander was a former member of The Church of St. Joseph and was a U.S. Air Force veteran, earning the National Defense Service Medal, the Good Conduct Medal and the Air Crew Member Badge. He volunteered with the Red Cross Blood Drive and was a driving instructor for the AARP Classes.

Alexander is survived by his brother, James P. Gillespie (Patricia); his nieces, Kathleen Bartle, Eileen Schlemmer, Patricia B. Gillespie and Shannon Carney; his nephew, James P. Gillespie, Jr.; also, his longtime friend, Barbara Hartle.

Funeral Mass 10:00 AM Friday, December 23, 2016 at The Church of St. Joseph, 3255 Concord Rd., Aston where friends may call from 9 to 9:45AM.
