Obituary

Albert M. Siti, 91, of Swarthmore, PA, died April 6, 2017 at Taylor Hospital. Born in Elkton, MD, he was the son of the late Sigmund and Elizabeth Marcy Siti, and resided in Norwood, and then Broomall, before moving to Swarthmore in 1975.

Albert served in the US Army during WWII. After the war, he worked at Westinghouse in Essington, PA, and then at General Steel Castings in Eddystone, PA until the plant closed in 1964. From that time, he worked at the Autocar Division of White Motor Company, in Exton, PA on their truck assembly line. He joined the United Auto Workers of America Union, Local #131, which he served as shop steward, contract negotiator, and later as Union President until the Autocar plant closed in 1980. Even while Albert worked full-time at his factory jobs, he earned extra income as an independent contractor doing residential roofing jobs and additions. He continued as a self-employed contractor for several years after the closing of the Autocar plant.

Albert's favorite hobby was baseball. After his military time, he played semi-pro baseball with aspirations of becoming a big league pitcher. He followed the Phillies throughout his life, and coached baseball during his son's Little League and Babe Ruth League years. His other hobbies included small game hunting, and traveling by auto throughout the USA with his wife Helen. Most important to Albert was his time with Helen, his children, grandchildren, and extended family.

Albert was predeceased by the love of his life and wife of 35 years, Helen V. Kapourelos Siti, who died November 8, 2010; his former wife and mother of his children, Sophie Testoni Siti; his daughter, Rosalind Siti Millar; and his siblings, Sigmund Siti, Jr., George A. Siti, Helen Winbeck, and Louis A. Siti.

Albert is survived by his sons, Craig R. Siti (Diane) and Randy Siti (Anna); eight grandchildren, Jacqueline, Matthew (Christine), Colleen (Joseph), Kathryn (Ted), Benjamin, Raquel, Kassandre, and Jordan; one great grandson, Grayson; a niece and two nephews, one of whom, Louis Pete Siti, he regarded as a son.
