Albert A. Blanda, 88, of Aston died February 11, 2016. Born in Philadelphia, son of the late Michael and Maria Cundra Blanda, he had been a resident of Aston for the past 52 years.
Albert attended John Bartram High School, class of 1945 and after graduation enlisted into the Army in 1945 where he was stationed in the Philippines, he was awarded the World War II Victory Medal. After being discharged he met his future wife Dolores DeFranco, they were married on October 22, 1949 until her passing on June 5, 2006. Albert worked for over 32 years for the Atlantic Refining/ARCO Refinery in Philadelphia where he held various positions in the Fire, Safety & Security Department. The majority of his service was as a Safety Inspector. He was a skilled Ambulance Driver, First Aid Responder, Fire Fighter and also taught First Aid and Fire Fighting classes throughout his service. He also secured a Maritime Seafaring Captain's license though the Coast Guard program which allowed him to support the environmental safety group. He remained an avid golfer and bowler throughout his lifetime until his later years. He loved to travel and was blessed to go on many trips with his wife Dolores.
He was father of the late David J. Blanda and was predeceased by ten siblings.

Funeral Mass 11 AM Wednesday February 17, 2016 at The Church of St. Joseph, 3255 Concord Rd., Aston where friends may call 10:00 to 10:45 AM. Burial will be held 1 PM Saturday February 20, 2016 in SS. Peter & Paul Cemetery (Section 30)
